Your Wedding Day
The Snowmass Chapel hosts both Protestant and Catholic services. The following information is provided to guide you in preparation for your wedding. This is by no means inclusive, and an appointment with a member of our staff is required for all weddings. Please talk with our wedding scheduler, Program Coordinator Chris Wyman, concerning dates and fees before scheduling a meeting with our Chaplain. Please see the links on this page for related wedding forms.
The Service
The The Wedding Service is designed to be both traditional and personal and will be utilized by the Chapel Protestant Chaplain. Guest Ministers may use the service from their traditions. We strongly recommend hiring a wedding coordinator for larger weddings. A Chapel staff member, or liaison, will be present for all weddings to assist you with facilities issues, but does not fulfill the function of a wedding coordinator. The liason is included in the Chapel Use fee.
Rehearsals
For smaller services, rehearsals are generally not required. Larger weddings will require a rehearsal to work out the details. Generally, we book a one-hour rehearsal the day prior to a larger wedding.
Pre-Marital Counseling
Pre-marital counseling requirements vary with the Chaplain you choose to marry you. Chaplain Edgell Pyles requires one pre-marital counseling session prior to your rehearsal and/or wedding date, but encourages up to four counseling sessions. Dr. Pyles' fee (see below) covers the cost of one counseling session.
Flowers & Other Decorations
- You may decorate the Chapel two hours before the wedding. If more time is needed, please schedule an appointment with our Chapel liaison.
- We do not permit the throwing of rice, birdseed, flower petals or confetti. We do accept bubbles, which are a new and lovely way to enhance the atmosphere.
- We provide the use of our two large, free-standing candleholders and two brass candelabrum with no-drip candles. Any additional candles should be approved by the Chapel liaison.
- Our grand piano, organ, and sound system are available. Please arrange for the use of these with the Chapel liaison.
A valid Colorado Marriage License must be presented to the Minister prior to the ceremony. Application for license can be made at the Pitkin County Clerk and Recorder's office at (970) 920-5180. The fee is $10; there is no waiting period, no blood test is required, and your license is valid for 30 days. You do not have to be a Colorado resident to obtain a marriage license.
Fees
Snowmass Chapel is a nondenominational chapel without a traditional church membership, and therefore we charge a fee for weddings. A deposit of 50 percent is due upon making your reservation in order to guarantee your wedding date!
If you cancel your wedding service up to four weeks in advance, we will refund your deposit, less $50 for administrative expenses. For weddings cancelled after that time, the deposit is non-refundable.
Chapel Use Fees
$ 1,000 Chapel fee includes; rehearsal, wedding date and chapel liaison.
Resident Chaplain Fees

$ 1,000 Chaplain Edgell Pyles at another location
Your fee balance is due two weeks prior to your wedding date. Make all checks payable to Snowmass Chapel, with wedding date noted on check. Return your deposit to us with the Wedding Information forms.
Chapel Seating & Parking Capacity
The Chapel Sanctuary area will comfortably seat approximately 210 people. We can accommodate outdoor weddings for up to 30 standing people, June through October. If possible, please visit us at the Chapel as you make important logistical decisions about your wedding.
During the summer, our parking lot is in great demand. Depending on the date and size of the wedding, other transportation such as shuttles or lodge transportation may be required.
