Currently we are supporting and involved with the local ministries described below...

Snowmass Village Community Outreach

This program was established to help with the unexpected and urgent needs of residents of Snowmass Village.

Lift Up

“LIFT-UP is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential humanitarian assistance in the communities they serve.  LIFT-UP was formed in 1982 when our region fell on hard times after the downturn in the oil and shale industries.   Many people found themselves out of work, with no way to feed their families.  Local churches, businesses and concerned citizens joined together to start LIFT-UP, which stands for Life Interfaith Team on Unemployment and Poverty.  The needs continued, and with a reliable channel of assistance now in place, LIFT-UP continues to operate and meet those needs.” From Lift-Up Web.

Feed My Sheep

Feed My Sheep is located in Glenwood Springs, Colorado and exists to serve the homeless community of the Roaring Fork Valley.  The mission is to sensitively meet the needs of those who are homeless.  A variety of services are provided including food, showers, laundry, storage, and communication services.

Young Life

From Young Life Web

“Young Life doesn't start with a program. It starts with adults who are concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in their culture, building bridges of authentic friendship. These relationships don't happen overnight — they take time, patience, trust and consistency.”
“So Young Life leaders log many hours with kids — where they are, as they are. We listen to their stories and learn what's important to them because we genuinely care about their joys, triumphs, heartaches and setbacks.”
“We believe in the power of presence. Kids' lives are dramatically impacted when caring adults come alongside them, sharing God's love with them. Because their Young Life leader believes in them, they begin to see that their lives have great worth, meaning and purpose.”
“This is the first step of a lifelong journey; the choices they make today, based upon God's love for them, will impact future decisions … careers chosen, marriages formed and families raised. All ripples from the time when a Young Life leader took time to reach out and enter their world.”

Thanksgiving Community Potluck

For over 22 years, Snowmass Chapel has joined other community organizations in sponsoring a Thanksgiving meal and celebration for the Snowmass Village Community on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. It is a time to celebrate our community, each other, and the many blessings we have all received. At first, the potluck was held on our Campus, but due to the size it has moved to the SilverTree Hotel and Conference Center in Snowmass Village. This year we anticipate having over 400 people in the great event.

Share the Joy Holiday Baskets

Snowmass Chapel supports this Aspen Interfaith Association program which assembles and distributes holiday baskets to local needy families. The goal is to bring joy to local families who are struggling with gifts and food vouchers. This year about 225 families are being helped.

AA Meetings

Each Thursday at noon there is an open AA meeting.  Below, please find a description of AA from their website.  If you would like to contact the leader, please e-mail aa@snowmasschapel.com

Alcoholics Anonymous® is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Challenge Aspen's History – From the Challenge Aspen Webpage

www.challengeaspen.org

Challenge Aspen is an organic outgrowth of the individually conceived dreams of co-founders, Houston Cowan and Amanda Boxtel. Houston Cowan became interested in teaching blind people to ski in 1991 and was first introduced to the field through BOLD (Blind Outdoor Leisure Development) as a volunteer guide and instructor and later with Ed Lucks, who was a pioneer in developing adaptive teaching techniques and equipment. In 1994, Houston became a full-time Aspen resident, focused on the pursuit of his dream to make working with the disabled his life’s work.

Amanda Boxtel’s love of art and teaching children brought her to Aspen in 1988. While skiing on Snowmass Mountain in 1993 she took a tragic fall resulting in a broken back and leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. Amanda was forced to experience first hand, the personal courage required to regain her life and the activities seemingly lost to her after the fall. Throughout her road to recovery, she maintained a deep desire to continue to teach and work with children. Personal experience with disability gave Amanda a genuine understanding of the importance of creating greater access to the many recreational and creative opportunities in the Rocky Mountains for the disabled community. At the urging of mutual friends, Houston and Amanda met in 1994 to explore their shared vision, and Challenge Aspen was born.

Following a year of organization and the establishment of a close working relationship with Aspen Skiing Company and local outfitters, Challenge Aspen was formally established in 1995. Since 1995, Challenge Aspen has continued to listen to participants and has responded in kind with services and year-round offerings, providing access for all to a wide variety of seasonal sports, recreational and cultural activities for adults and children. Thanks to Challenge Aspen and an intensely dedicated volunteer staff and board of directors, those with physical and mental challenges now have access to recreational sports like downhill and cross-country skiing, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, swimming, gymnastics, hiking and fishing.

Through the years, seasonal camps have become a large outreach of Challenge Aspen, and the fun includes a mono-ski camp and a rock climbing camp for paraplegics and amputees, a ski festival for the visually impaired, and children’s art and music camps in the summertime. Summer camps are crafted with kids specifically in mind, to invite a sense of creative success and achievement while creating memories with friends who have similar life challenges. Based in Snowmass Village with access to the area’s four ski mountains, Challenge Aspen currently serves more than 400 participants each year, with over 2,100 participant days. Challenge Aspen has built a committed full-time staff of eight, a stellar volunteer force of more than 100 and an esteemed volunteer board of directors. Houston Cowan and Amanda Boxtel, believed from the beginning that access, community and participation were the keys to healing and establishing rewarding lives for those with disabilities. Challenge Aspen has carried those ideals forward and continues to connect, encourage and inspire those with physical and mental disabilities and those who are privileged enough to work with them. Challenge Aspen is helping to break through barriers, helping individuals gain the self-esteem and confidence needed to lead fulfilling, productive lives

HOA Meetings

We are happy to offer our meeting spaces to local homeowners associations to hold their regular meetings. We have three primary rooms to offer. Our community room is the largest and can accommodate up to thirty people comfortably. The library upstairs is very similar to a board room with a long table with ten executive chairs. Lastly, our fireside room is a nice option for a small group. It accommodates four to five people next to the atmospheric fireplace.
